Mission Community Foundation Funds Three Sara Stedys for Mission Memorial Hospital

Nov 5, 2024 | Community, Donation, Equipment

Mission Memorial Hospital (MMH) has received three Sara Stedy patient transfer aids thanks to Mission Community Foundation. This generous donation underscores the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing patient care and promoting early mobility initiatives within the community.

The Sara Stedy is an innovative patient transfer aid designed to facilitate safe and efficient transfers, while also encouraging patients to engage in their own mobility. This non-powered device allows patients to stand independently or with minimal assistance from hospital care teams, significantly improving their confidence and physical well-being, as well as overall recovery.

Jill McIntosh, clinical operations manager, at MMH, states how “sara steady’s are a valuable piece of equipment that we use daily for supporting our patients to be mobilized and transferred. The Sara Steady is convenient and quick for one team member to use, and has a strong base providing comfort (and steadiness) to the patient”.

According to executive director, Elizabeth Harris, Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation: “the Sara Stedy devices will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care and promoting early mobility, which are essential components of a patient’s recovery journey. And we are thankful to the Missional Community Foundation in helping fund this crucial equipment”.

The addition of the Sara Stedy devices aligns with Mission Memorial Hospital’s ongoing efforts to provide high-quality care and improve patient outcomes. The hospital staff is excited to integrate these aids into their daily routines, knowing the positive impact they will have on patient mobility and safety.
