Last push of the year to fund a new communication system for Abbotsford ER

New system will provide quicker care for patients, says Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.

Fraser Valley Heath Care Foundation (FVHCF) is still raising funds to fully equip the emergency department at Abbotsford Regional Hospital with a better communication system.

Every second counts in an emergency room, and the new system will allow all staff to connect with each other instantly when needed. They are hoping for a final push of fundraising dollars in 2022.

“I am pleased to announce that through the generosity of our donors, we’ve raised $150,000 of our goal and still need $250,000 to equip our recently renovated emergency department (ED) with a modern, voice-activated Vocera Communications system that allows staff to be in contact with each other throughout the ED,” said Liz Harris, executive director of FVHCF.

A modern Vocera Communications System for the new emergency department will mean that critical patient information will reach the right person at the right time, she added, saving valuable time and better affecting care.

“We need your support now to make the new communication system operational in 2023 and make emergency care safer and more efficient for all,” said Harris.

Dec. 31 is the last date people can make donations to have them count for taxable receipts for this year.

“We don’t want people to miss the opportunity to support heath care and get a charitable receipt to use when they file their taxes,” explained Harris.

Anyone who would like to support the ARH Emergency Department can do so by contacting FVHCF at 1-877-661-0314 or donating online at www.fvhcf.ca.
